Loughgall, currently at the bottom of the Irish Premiership table, faces an injury crisis that manager Dean Smith described as causing him “plenty to worry about.” Ahead of their match against Glentoran, Smith is missing seven first-team players. The manager of “the Villagers” stated that this extensive injury list has further complicated what has already been a challenging season for the team, which currently occupies the last position in the league standings. Smith commented, “We are down to the bare bones. I thought for four or five weeks we had turned a corner, our performances were much better, but with the injury list I think anyone would struggle.” He added, “It is just seeing who is available, who we can put out there and if we can get a performance.” Smith indicated that the defensive line has been most significantly impacted by the injuries, noting that his team has conceded a league-high 46 goals. “We haven’t had the same back four for two games this season through injuries and suspension, so it has been really difficult, because defensively we have been poor with goals we have conceded,” Smith stated, concluding, “The sooner we get players back the better.” Loughgall is set to host Glentoran at Lakeview Park on Saturday, with Smith expressing hope that his team can take advantage of Glentoran’s inconsistent performance. “The Villagers” currently trail fellow struggling team Glenavon by four points, facing a challenging series of upcoming matches. Despite this, Smith remains confident in their ability to persevere. Smith further commented, “Glentoran have been very inconsistent this season, so we have to try and take advantage of it.” He concluded, “We know that it is difficult, and it is going to be hard, but we believe we can get out of it.”
