West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui has expressed certainty that Lucas Paqueta’s career will continue at the London stadium. The 27-year-old player had been associated with a potential move back to his childhood club, Flamengo, and shared an ambiguous post on social media prior to Monday evening’s Premier League fixture. Following his winning goal against Bournemouth on Monday, the midfielder was observed kissing the West Ham badge. When questioned about Paqueta’s future, Lopetegui responded, “Did you see the match he did? I think this is the answer.” He further stated, “The commitment and behaviour that he showed was 100 per cent with us. The only future I can think about him is he has to be ready for the next big challenge we have against Brighton.” Lopetegui concluded by saying, “He showed very, very good behaviour and we are very happy with him.” Paqueta personally affirmed his contentment in East London to supporters. After the win, he commented: “I love to play here with West Ham. I love these fans. With the coach, we have the same way.” He added, “For me, it’s very, very important to play. I like to play every day, every week. I am happy, I try to improve and focus on the next game.”
