Following a significant defeat, Leicester City defender Conor Coady shared his thoughts with Sky Sports, stating: “We weren’t good enough. We are conceding too many goals and not creating enough chances. We are in a bad place, but only we can get ourselves together. We are in a dark place at the moment.” Coady emphasized the necessity for the team to overcome their difficulties through self-reflection. He noted the impending arrival of the new manager for training tomorrow, highlighting that with a full season still ahead, this marks a crucial starting point for improvement. He further stressed the extensive need for improvement, asserting that the current level of performance is unacceptable for the club, its players, and the team as a whole. Coady underlined the imperative to “really build and get better.” Regarding the atmosphere within the dressing room, Coady described it as “Down – but there’s a lot [of players] who need to take responsibility. We need to speak to each other and get the best out of each other.” He revealed that the players have conducted several team meetings this week, explaining that such self-assessment is characteristic of effective teams, a quality he believes they are currently lacking. Coady pointed out that the entire team is “giving too many chances away.” He added that he personally scrutinizes his own performance, suggesting many other players should adopt a similar individual accountability. Addressing the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as manager, Coady stated: “We are looking forward to it, having a new manager come in and show us where we need to get better.” He concluded by acknowledging that the team has faced similar situations previously, reiterating the ongoing need to “take responsibility and try to get better.”
