Swansea University has conferred an honorary master’s degree upon Lee Trundle, a former striker for Swansea City. Trundle, aged 48 and a revered figure at the club, netted 78 goals in 146 appearances for Swansea across two periods as a player, earning recognition for his distinctive flamboyant style. Following his retirement from professional football, Trundle took on the role of club ambassador in 2013, a position he continues to hold. “When I first moved to Swansea, it was just for football, that’s all I had on my mind and it was the first time I’d lived away from home,” stated Trundle, who was born in Liverpool. He further commented, “I didn’t know how I would be away from home, but within three months I’d signed a two-year extension. That was not just down to the football club, that was down to the people in the area as well.” Trundle added, “I’d get out into the city as a player where we would go to different events and I would find myself going to a lot of these events, meeting people and not only was I falling in love with the football club, but I was falling in love with the city and how the people were treating me as well.”
