St Johnstone forward Makenzie Kirk has emphasized the necessity for the team to begin translating their improved performances into league points. Despite demonstrating better play, the Saints have managed to secure only five points from their last seven matches, with just one victory recorded during this sequence of fixtures. The club currently occupies the second-to-last position in the table, sitting a single point above Hearts, whom they are scheduled to face at Tynecastle on Sunday. Kirk described the upcoming match as “a massive game for both teams.” He added, “For us it is just about focusing on ourselves and taking the game to them and showing what we are about and playing the football we have been playing over the last few weeks.” Acknowledging the team’s lack of favorable outcomes, Kirk stated, “Although results for us haven’t been going our way, the football has been there and the performances have been there so it is just about going there and trying to take three points.” He concluded by stressing the critical importance of winning: “The most important thing for us is winning games, it’s the most important thing in football but we need to start picking up results.” The 20-year-old Kirk, who has scored six goals to date, has made a notable impact since his summer transfer to St Johnstone from Hearts. He was asked if he was surprised by the current predicament of his former club. Responding to the query about Hearts, Kirk commented, “From the start of the season they’ve not had great results and they’ve not really been as consistent as they were last year but it happens in football, you can’t deny the quality they have got with the squad and the threat they have going forward.”
