Katie Archibald increased her advantage in the women’s endurance category during the second stage of the Track Champions League. Following her initial round victories in the women’s scratch and elimination races, Archibald secured second place in both disciplines held in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. This performance brought the 30-year-old’s cumulative points total to 74, establishing a 29-point lead over Canada’s Sarah van Dam ahead of the third round, which is scheduled for Saturday at the identical location. Another British competitor, Matthew Richardson, holds the second position overall in the men’s sprint league, concurrently, Emma Finucane ranks third in the women’s sprint category. Having secured initial victories in the men’s sprint and keirin finals during the first round in Quentin-en-Yvelines, France, on 23 November, Richardson finished fifth in the sprint and fourth in the keirin on Friday evening, keeping him within seven points of the Dutch frontrunner, Harrie Lavreysen. Finucane achieved a fourth-place finish in her sprint final and an eleventh-place finish in the keirin, positioning the 21-year-old 20 points adrift of Alina Lysenko. Katy Marchant ascended to sixth place in the overall women’s sprint league standings, achieving this by securing seventh in the sprint and fifth in the keirin, while Lysenko claimed the highest possible points in both second-round events. Subsequent to the third round on Saturday, the fourth and fifth rounds are scheduled to take place at London’s Lee Valley VeloPark on 6 and 7 December. The current fourth season of the Track Champions League comprises a total of five rounds, distributed across three different cities. Participants engage in either the sprint or endurance categories, competing in two races per round: sprinters contest the sprint and keirin, whereas endurance riders participate in the elimination and scratch events. The points accumulated in each round are recorded in a league table, and the competitor who garners the highest number of points in their respective discipline by the conclusion of the series is declared the overall champion.
