Josh Rock recovered effectively after his defeat in the Players Championship 28 final to Wesley Plaisier two weeks prior. He then secured his third PDC ranking title of the year by narrowly defeating Jonny Clayton to win the Players Championship 30, held in Leicester. The player from Northern Ireland achieved a hard-fought 8-7 victory, sealing the win with a 118 checkout in the final leg. The 23-year-old has experienced an outstanding ProTour campaign, having previously secured his inaugural European Tour title by defeating Clayton at the Dutch Darts Championship in May. Rock subsequently added to his achievements with a win at Players Championship 17 in August, and now this title in Leicester, marking the season’s concluding event. He quickly established a 3-0 advantage, capitalizing on Clayton’s slow start, before the two-time World Cup winner responded with an impressive 132 combination. Despite trailing 6-2, the Welshman mounted another comeback, leveling the score after winning legs in 11, 13, 14, and 14 darts. Clayton succeeded in forcing a deciding leg, but he was denied a match-winning opportunity as Rock completed the game with a 118 finish to secure the victory. Consequently, Rock finished seventh in the Players Championship standings, ahead of the Players Championship Finals scheduled for next month in England. His focus will now shift to preparations for the Grand Slam of Darts, which commences on 9 November.
