Jersey Bulls secured a dominant 6-0 victory against Spelthorne Sports at Springfield, thereby extending their undefeated streak in the Combined Counties Premier South to 20 matches. During the game, Luke Campbell contributed to his season’s total, reaching five goals in 10 appearances for the team. The islanders, who had experienced their first loss since manager Elliott Powell took over in the summer during an FA Vase match last week, delivered a strong performance in their final home fixture of 2024. The Bulls initiated their scoring just prior to the half-time interval when Luke Campbell netted a goal, after Rai Dos Santos had struck the crossbar with a free-kick in the 25th minute. Five minutes into the second half, the centre-half, Campbell, extended the lead by heading in what was his fifth goal of the season. Six minutes subsequent to this, Joe Kilshaw maintained his excellent scoring streak, netting his fourth goal in as many matches to bring the score to 3-0. Francis Lekimamati added a fourth goal with a composed finish in the 69th minute. Two minutes later, Luke Watson contributed the fifth goal with a curling shot, and Kieran Lester concluded the scoring with a close-range effort with 10 minutes left in the match. This victory, which marks the fifth occasion this season the Bulls have scored at least six goals in a single game, solidified their third position in the league standings. They also hold outstanding matches compared to the teams currently ranked higher. Manager Powell conveyed to BBC Radio Jersey, “I think it was important for us to bounce back as quickly as we could.” He further commented on the initial period, stating, “We were disappointed with that first half, we didn’t move the ball quick enough.” Regarding the latter half of the game, Powell remarked, “I thought second half we were much better, much more on the front foot, much more attacking and we asked questions of Spelthorne, so I’m really happy with that.” He also highlighted Campbell’s contribution, explaining, “When we’ve got Luke in the team it gives us a threat from set pieces, and against a team that are going to sit in like Spelthorne it was important that we had someone to break it down and Luke pops up with big moments a lot of the time.”
