James Forrest, a player who has spent his entire career with Celtic, has committed to the club until at least the summer of 2026 by signing a one-year contract extension. He has participated in 16 matches for Celtic this season. The 33-year-old winger is poised to become the club’s most decorated player, currently holding 24 trophies, which places him just one behind Bobby Lennox. Since his debut in 2010, Forrest has accumulated 511 appearances, registering 109 goals and 107 assists. Speaking to Celtic TV, Forrest stated, “I’ve loved every minute of being here, from being a wee boy coming through the youth and all the ups that I’ve had playing for the first team.” He further added, “I’m just delighted that I’ve managed to work hard and hopefully I can keep contributing to the team for another year.” Forrest, who has earned 39 caps for Scotland, has started six matches for Celtic this season and made 10 additional appearances as a substitute. Manager Brendan Rodgers commented, “James has given everything to Celtic and so much to me personally, but make no mistake, he has so much more to give.” Rodgers continued, “I look at last season and this one already, and see a player undoubtedly who will still deliver for us.” He concluded by saying, “He is a born winner, someone with such talent and desire and I know he can play a hugely important role in bringing us continued success.”
