Ipswich Town Football Club has presented proposals for the development of a parking facility situated behind one of its stadium stands. The Premier League team aims to construct this parking area specifically behind the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand, located at its Portman Road stadium. The proposed car park is designed to accommodate 168 vehicles, primarily intended for use by staff members at the venue on matchdays. These plans have been lodged with Ipswich Borough Council, and the club anticipates that construction could commence early next year. According to the club, should the proposals receive approval, six electric vehicle charging points are slated for installation, and a total of 17 parking spaces will be reallocated to the adjacent Travelodge hotel. Modifications are planned for the car park’s existing entry and exit point on Chancery Road, concurrently with the establishment of a distinct entry and exit point on Russell Road, designated for hotel guests. The club stated that existing temporary hoardings will be taken down, aiming to establish a “more open car park with clearer access points for both vehicles and pedestrians”. Furthermore, the club is expected to soon submit an additional application concerning temporary facilities at its training ground located on Playford Road. These facilities, as indicated by the club, are intended to “support the larger training ground development and the associated Category One status for the Club’s Academy”.
