Questions have emerged regarding the potential impact of separate ferry operators on inter-island sports competitions contested by Guernsey and Jersey. Chris Gnapp of the Guernsey Raiders noted a “bit of uncertainty” concerning ferry transportation for upcoming events, including the Siam Cup scheduled for May. Jersey has selected the Danish company DFDS to manage its essential passenger and freight services, whereas Guernsey opted for Brittany Ferries to operate its maritime connections. Anna Gauvain, who serves as head coach for Guernsey Football Club’s women’s teams, also requested clear information for the scheduling of future matches. The Siam Cup, an annual rugby union tournament, involves clubs from the Channel Islands, Jersey and Guernsey, and typically draws a significant number of supporters who travel between the two islands. Gnapp stated: “At the moment there’s a bit of uncertainty.”We play rugby to put on a show for the fans, and the Siam, as we know, is the biggest single event of the year. “So we would like as many Guernsey community members to come over to Jersey and support all the teams.” Ms Gauvain indicated that she required definitive information to effectively plan and coordinate players. She added: “I am keen to find out what’s going to happen in the summer, where we might be able to introduce some more fixtures for other players, and perhaps some of the younger age groups.”From a women’s point of view, we’re trying to grow the game. “We want people to come and watch us from both islands, regardless of whether it’s Guernsey or Jersey.” Post navigation Swansea City’s Failed Attempt to Sign Siriki Dembele Confirmed by Williams Wolverhampton Wanderers Reach Agreement with Vitor Pereira for Managerial Role
