Goalkeeper Ivor Pandur has asserted that Hull City must not lament their current standing in the league, stating that only the players possess the ability to extricate themselves from their predicament. This season, Pandur and Hull City have managed to secure only one clean sheet. Their 2-1 defeat by Coventry City on Saturday placed them at the bottom of the Championship table, though they remain just two points shy of safety. “It’s concerning for the fans and everyone at the club but we are not here to cry about it – we put ourselves in this position and we can get ourselves out of it, we just need to find a way of winning games,” Pandur communicated to BBC Radio Humberside. He continued, “We’ve been through some difficult moments since the beginning of the season and some things are not working but we can turn this around because we have a lot of quality in our team.” Hull has failed to achieve a victory in their last 13 league matches, a run that includes nine defeats. This poor performance contributed to the dismissal of head coach Tim Walter last month, with Ruben Selles from Reading subsequently appointed as his replacement. “We have a new coach who we believe in, we need to listen, we need to be better and hopefully we’ll do that on Saturday,” Pandur added. He further elaborated, “He has brought energy, compactness and discipline within the team – he’s told us to stick together – he’s a good manager and will help us get through this.” Pandur, 24, has participated in all 21 of the club’s Championship fixtures this season, recording only one clean sheet. He recognizes what Selles needs to prioritize to guide the team away from trouble. “He needs to improve us defensively because we have the quality up front which will show sooner or later but we need to defend better as a team,” Pandur stated. “Not having a game in midweek will help as we’ve not had that since the new manager arrived so we need to reset, show up and improve.” The Tigers are scheduled to host Swansea City this Saturday, having not secured a home win since defeating Cardiff at the end of September. Following this, they face challenging away fixtures against Preston and Blackburn.
