Hull City midfielder Kasey Palmer, who previously won the FA Youth Cup with Chelsea, has undergone tests and a scan for an ankle injury. Despite this, head coach Ruben Selles is hopeful that Palmer could be fit to participate in Saturday’s Championship match against Swansea. The Jamaica international sustained the injury last weekend, being forced off the pitch during the second half of the 2-1 defeat by Coventry. Selles provided an update to BBC Radio Humberside, stating, “On Monday the pain in the ankle was still there so he’s had some tests, a scan and seen a specialist – we are hoping he could be back on the grass.” He further explained the caution surrounding the injury: “There’s a suggestion there could be something more serious, that’s why we need to be pretty sure what the next step is because sometimes you can carry on and play and sometimes you need time off, so that’s why we are seeing a specialist.” Palmer transferred to the Tigers from Coventry in August for an undisclosed fee. He has made eight league starts for Hull City, scoring one goal. Selles also emphasized the team’s depth, adding, “Kasey is a good player for the level but we can’t make excuses and if he’s not ready somebody will step onto the pitch ready to fight for the team.” Hull City currently occupies the bottom position in the Championship standings. Selles assumed the role of head coach earlier this month, succeeding Tim Walter.
