Former Premier League striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink stated on the BBC’s Planet Premier League podcast that he believes now is an opportune moment for a manager to take the helm at Manchester United. The former Leeds and Chelsea forward remarked, “That job is an absolutely magnificent job.” He further suggested that if the club’s leadership provides the incoming manager with the required support, it is currently the most suitable time to accept the role, allowing for the establishment of a distinct identity for years ahead. Hasselbaink observed the general consensus that United is not expected to win the league title this year or possibly next. He added that while European qualification is necessary, even Champions League participation might not be an immediate expectation this season. He concluded that this environment allows for a period of calm work due to significantly reduced expectations. This, he suggested, would provide an opportunity to shape both the team and its overall identity.
