An individual who sustained a head injury from a puck during an ice hockey game expressed gratitude that the incident affected him rather than his seven-year-old son. Adam, a resident of East Yorkshire, was attending a Seahawks fixture at Hull Ice Arena on Sunday when he was injured during the players’ warm-up session. He stated: “I dread to think what could have happened if it was my son or his friend. It could have been a lot, lot worse.” In a statement, Hull Culture & Leisure Limited, the entity responsible for operating the council-owned facility, confirmed that an inquiry is in progress to ascertain if further safety protocols are required. Adam recounted that this was only his second occasion attending a Seahawks match alongside his son. Upon their arrival at their designated seating, the players were engaged in their warm-up routine, he noted. He subsequently elaborated: “I just felt a massive blow to my forehead.” Adam observed that those in his vicinity were “panicked” and “shocked,” and his son started to weep. Event stewards escorted him to the first aid room, where an off-duty doctor provided assistance. Adam further mentioned: “There were a few times where the puck came close and hit the glass near us, which it does, and everyone sort of looked at me so we had a joke about it at those moments.” He expressed a safety concern, stating, “From an actual health and safety point I thought another puck could have come through.” Adam clarified that he does not hold Hull Seahawks responsible for the incident. Nevertheless, he suggested that the protective barrier ought to be examined prior to each game. Adam characterized the event as “extremely unlucky” and labeled it a “freak incident.” Following the conclusion of the game, Emil Svec, the player whose shot struck Adam, presented him with a signed puck and a used stick. Adam commented: “He didn’t have to do that so I really respect him coming and checking in.” He also remarked on Svec’s skill: “I’ve been told he has one of the most powerful shots in the team and in the league so I don’t think that helped my forehead either.” In a statement, Hull Culture & Leisure Ltd communicated: “We’re aware of this incident and extend our heartfelt sympathy and best wishes to the person involved. “On the day, our staff provided immediate first aid attention to the person who, after treatment, returned to their seat for the remainder of the game.” The company affirmed that the safety of its visitors constitutes its “top priority.” It further stated: “We have health and safety policies in place, including risk assessments, pre-event checks, and referees also inspect all gates before games to ensure they are secure.” Regarding the current situation, the company added: “Following this incident, we’re carrying out an investigation to establish the cause and identify any further safety measures that can be put in place.” Concluding its statement, Hull Culture & Leisure Ltd said: “We appreciate that this was an upsetting experience for the person involved and will be contacting them to help us conclude our investigation.” Post navigation Euro 2025 Draw: England and Wales to Learn Opponents Hearts vs. Celtic: A Challenging Fixture for the League Leaders
