Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell does not anticipate substantial new players joining his squad next month. This comes after Ryan Woods made his move to Exeter permanent, having initially joined Gary Caldwell’s team on loan last January. The Grecians currently hold the 15th position in League One, having secured only one win in their last nine League One matches. It is worth noting that all the games they failed to win were against clubs ranked in the top 10. Last January, Exeter brought in six players, either on a permanent basis or on loan, with Millenic Alli, Ryan Woods, and Ben Purrington among them. “We won’t have much in terms of finances to change a lot,” Caldwell told BBC Radio Devon following his side’s loss to Barnsley. He further elaborated, “So it won’t be wholesale, it won’t be lots in and out.” Caldwell also stated, “But there will be possibly one or two coming in to try and give the team more energy, more quality and just freshen it up a little bit.” He concluded, “It won’t be like it was 12 months ago where there’s wholesale changes, which I think is a good thing because January is a difficult month to get things done.”
