Zach O’Brien currently shares the top spot as the Elite League’s leading points scorer this season, having accumulated eight goals and seven assists. The Cardiff Devils defeated the Coventry Blaze with a score of 3-0 in a crucial Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) match-up held at the Skydome Arena, pitting two of the league’s top teams against each other. The intensely competitive game saw no goals until Zach O’Brien broke the deadlock by scoring the opening goal during the latter part of the second period. Reid Duke further increased the visiting team’s lead early in the third period. Subsequently, O’Brien scored his second goal of the match, securing the Welsh team’s tenth Elite Ice Hockey League victory. Devils’ goaltender Mac Carruth achieved his first shutout of the season by successfully blocking all 32 shots directed at him. Cardiff now leads the league standings with 20 points earned from 12 games. Meanwhile, Coventry has dropped to third position, trailing the defending champions Sheffield Steelers, who currently hold 14 points from eight games. The Devils are scheduled to return to Elite League play on Friday, 22 November, facing the Glasgow Clan at 19:30 GMT.
