Manchester United coach Darren Fletcher has successfully appealed to have his touchline ban reduced to two matches. This decision follows his conviction for misconduct during a game against Brentford on Saturday, October 19. The allegations leading to the misconduct finding stated that Fletcher acted in an “improper and/or confrontational manner” and employed “abusive and/or insulting words” directed at match officials during the Premier League victory held at Old Trafford. The former midfielder, Fletcher, admitted to the misconduct but asserted that his actions were directed exclusively at the fourth official and the referee, maintaining that he was not abusive. Following an initial sanction of a three-match touchline ban and a £7,500 fine, an independent Appeal Board subsequently reduced the suspension by one game and lowered the fine to £6,000.
