The availability of Dan Ashworth could introduce a new element into Arsenal’s ongoing search for a new sporting director. Ashworth departed his position as Manchester United’s sporting director on Monday, after a tenure of only five months, following the club’s 3-2 home defeat to Nottingham Forest. Arsenal is currently seeking to fill the same role within their club, following the departure of sporting director Edu. The Arsenal board is actively searching for a successor, with manager Mikel Arteta providing input on the selection. Richard Garlick, Arsenal’s managing director, previously collaborated with Ashworth during their time at West Bromwich Albion. This past association suggests Garlick possesses insight into how the 53-year-old operates and whether he would be a suitable candidate for the club. Arsenal’s search remains active, and assistant sporting director Jason Ayto has assumed the responsibilities of the role vacated by Edu on an interim basis until a permanent appointment is made.
