Crusaders secured a 2-1 victory against Coleraine at The Showgrounds, marking their return to winning form in the Irish Premiership. The first half saw Jordan Stewart net the opening goal with a close-range header, followed by Kieran Offord extending the lead after a defensive error by Coleraine. Although Matthew Shevlin reduced the deficit in the second half, Kyle McClelland’s subsequent red card allowed Declan Caddell’s team to maintain their advantage and secure the win. This win marks the third time this season that the Crues have defeated Coleraine, propelling them to seventh place in the league standings. Offord’s goal against Coleraine was his seventh league goal of the current season. Stewart initiated the scoring for Crusaders approximately halfway through the first period. Ross Clarke delivered a corner from the near side, which Stewart headed beyond the reach of goalkeeper Max Little. Eight minutes subsequently, the visiting side extended their lead when defender Cameron Stewart’s under-hit back-pass to Little was intercepted by Offord, who then rounded the goalkeeper and placed the ball into an unguarded net. The Bannsiders narrowly avoided conceding further, as Jimmy Callacher struck the woodwork just before the half-time whistle. Coleraine also created opportunities during the dynamic first half, with both Shevlin and Rhyss Campbell hitting the crossbar with headers. Shevlin provided a glimmer of hope for the home side with 15 minutes remaining, heading in Dean Jarvis’ cross from the left at close range to register his 13th league goal of the season. However, their prospects of securing an equaliser diminished minutes later when McClelland received a second yellow card from referee Declan Hassan following an entanglement with Offord. Johnny Tuffey thwarted Coleraine’s attempt at a late equaliser, parrying away substitute Kyle Spence’s powerful angled shot, as the Crues secured their third consecutive 2-1 victory against Dean Shiels’ team.
