Coventry City’s interim manager, Rhys Carr, provided an update on the squad’s status ahead of Saturday’s home fixture against second-placed Sheffield United, presenting both positive and negative news. USA international Haji Wright will be unavailable after sustaining an ankle injury late in the 2-2 comeback draw at leaders Sunderland on November 9, which was the team’s first game following Mark Robins’ dismissal. However, while the forward’s expected recovery period is not yet clear, captain Ben Sheaf and goalkeeper Oliver Dovin are both back in contention for selection, having missed the previous trip to the Stadium of Light. Carr informed BBC CWR, “Everyone saw it. It was a bit of a nasty tweak he’s got on his ankle. He’s with the care of our medical team now. We want him fit as quickly as possible.” He added, “But Ben Sheaf and Oliver Dovin are available for selection. And Jake Bidwell and Jamie Allen have been in training. They’ve had a longer period of time out so we need to just monitor them a little bit but they’re closer to being available. Ben Wilson is probably a little further away but I see him in the gym every day. He’s working his socks off.” With no immediate successor to Robins yet appointed—though Frank Lampard remains the bookmakers’ strong favourite—Carr is set to oversee his second game. He remarked, “It’s a new challenge but it’s day by day. I’m just focused on doing the best job that I’ve been entrusted to do. How long that lasts is a day-by-day approach.” Carr stressed, “The focus has to be on the football That’s why we’re all here. That’s why we’re paid as employees. We all want to win. Every single person, the staff, the players everybody wants to win.” Rhys Carr’s comments were made during an interview with Clive Eakin of BBC CWR.
