Cleveland Cavaliers Achieve Historic 15-0 Start to Season

The Cleveland Cavaliers secured their 15th consecutive victory to open the regular season, defeating the Charlotte Hornets 128-114. This achievement marks them as only the fourth team in NBA history to start a season with a 15-0 record. Darius Garland contributed 25 points, 12 assists, and five rebounds for the Cavaliers. At Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Darius Garland recorded 25 points, while Ty Jerome, stepping in for Donovan Mitchell, added 24 points. Other key contributors for the Cavaliers included Evan Mobley, who tallied 23 points and 11 rebounds, and Jarrett Allen, who posted 21 points and 15 rebounds. For the Hornets, LaMelo Ball led their scoring with 31 points. Previously, the Washington Capitols in 1949 and the Houston Rockets in 1994 also began their seasons with 15 consecutive wins. The Golden State Warriors hold the record for the best start, winning their first 24 games in 2016. While all three of these prior teams advanced to the NBA Finals, only the Houston Rockets ultimately secured the championship title. Jarrett Allen commented on the team’s reception, stating, “Everyone is showing tons of energy, all over the city. It’s incredible how Cleveland has adopted us. They come to every game, yelling for everything. The city of Cleveland has our backs.” The Cavaliers, currently leading the Eastern Conference standings, are scheduled to face the second-placed Boston Celtics, the reigning NBA champions, on Tuesday.
