Cav Miley, a former Jersey player who has participated in over 250 matches since departing the island in 2017 for the National League, has voiced his wish that he had been able to play for Jersey Bulls during his time residing on the island. The 29-year-old midfielder for Southend United departed Jersey in 2017 to join Eastleigh, a National League team, two years prior to the establishment of the Bulls. Jersey Bulls was the inaugural club formed in Jersey to compete within the English league system and currently holds the third position in Combined Counties Premier South. Miley was a member of the St Paul’s team that dominated Channel Island club football a decade ago and represented Jersey’s side in the annual Muratti Vase match against Guernsey, in addition to being part of the squad for the 2015 Island Games. Miley, who transferred to Southend United in the summer of 2022 after playing more than 175 games for the Spitfires, stated, “The Jersey Bulls weren’t a thing when I was there.” He further elaborated to BBC Radio Essex, “It’s brilliant – playing local football over there all you ever really wanted was to have the opportunity to go over to the UK and be playing in more competitive games.” He added, “I’m over the moon they get to do that and my little brother has played quite a few games now for the Bulls and he’s in and out of it, so it’s brilliant.”
