Carlisle United defender Aaron Hayden, who previously secured consecutive promotions with Wrexham before his move, has expressed his “no doubt” conviction that his current team will escape their challenging position in League Two. Despite a 1-0 victory against Salford City on Saturday, which concluded a seven-game winless streak in the league, the team remains 23rd in the division. This win marked only the second under head coach Mike Williamson, who assumed his role on September 19. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old Hayden is persuaded that the Cumbrians are progressing positively. “We are going to turn it around – I’ve got no doubt about that,” Hayden stated to BBC Radio Cumbria. Hayden returned to the club this summer for his second tenure, following a three-year period at Wrexham. While acknowledging that the season’s beginning has not met his or the team’s expectations, he maintains confidence that they will distance themselves from League Two’s relegation zone. Their next fixture is a first-ever visit to 19th-placed Bromley on Saturday. He further commented, “We are believing more in ourselves and the process. The way we want to play is the right way, controlling the game.” Hayden concluded, “It’s just one win and we still have a lot of improvement. We have to come back next week and back it up.”
