Cardiff City Women narrowly avoided an upset in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup second round against Cascade, ultimately winning 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Molly Kehoe. Megan Waite had given the Genero Adran South side the lead just before the half-hour mark. Cascade had previously eliminated Cardiff’s fellow Adran Premier team Cardiff Met in the Genero Adran Trophy round of 16 last week, and another upset against a top-flight club seemed imminent. However, Nieve Jenkins leveled the score for Cardiff midway through the second half, bundling the ball home following a corner. Kehoe then scored a dramatic winner deep into time added on, securing Cardiff’s place in the quarter-finals.
