Bristol City’s head coach, Liam Manning, has declared that his team will not “fear” Burnley ahead of their Championship encounter scheduled for Saturday at Ashton Gate. Burnley, a former Premier League club, currently occupies fourth place in the league standings and is widely considered a strong candidate for immediate promotion back to the top flight next season. Historically, Bristol City has not secured a victory in their last six league fixtures against Burnley, with Nigel Pearson and Vincent Kompany having been the respective managers during their most recent face-off. Nevertheless, Scott Parker’s Clarets are presently only five points ahead of the Robins this season, and despite Manning acknowledging that the match will present a “tough challenge,” he affirmed the team’s internal confidence. Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol, Manning stated, “The margins are really tight this year, we know they’ve got depth, we know they’re going to be difficult to play against but I do feel that every week.” He further elaborated on his message to the players: “The message for the lads is we shouldn’t and we wont fear anybody. It’s a case of stepping on the pitch and taking confidence from performances and games we’ve had recently.” Manning concluded by emphasizing their home advantage, adding, “And we’re at home so we’re going to take the game to them.”
