Bristol Bears achieved a 40-15 bonus-point victory against Championship team Ampthill in the Premiership Rugby Cup, scoring six tries. Harry Rowson contributed Bristol’s initial try during this match. Following an early penalty conceded by Bristol, which Ampthill fly-half Josh Barton successfully converted, the young Bears team quickly found their rhythm, registering five consecutive tries before halftime. Tries were scored by centre Harry Rowson, hooker Will Capon, captain Yann Thomas, and scrum-half Oscar Lennon, alongside a penalty try, propelling the Bears to a substantial 33-3 advantage by the interval. Ampthill’s defense improved in the second half, and they narrowed the scoreline in the 59th minute when Kerr Johnston scored a try in the corner, shortly after Bears’ number eight Benjamin Grondona received a sin-binning. Bristol’s initial points of the second half came in the 71st minute, courtesy of substitute Aidan Boshoff, who gathered a looping pass to cross the line in the corner. Ampthill secured a consolation try during the match’s final play, driving over the line after executing a well-designed set-piece. This marks the Bears’ second victory in three games, keeping them in second place in Pool D, trailing Bath. Meanwhile, Ampthill, still without a win, occupies the bottom position in the table.
