Brighton commentator Jonny Cantor suggests that Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler believes the team, known as the Seagulls, “should be higher” in the Premier League standings than their current eighth position. Hurzeler’s team recently experienced a defeat against Liverpool at the weekend, a match where they held a lead for 55 minutes, which Cantor implies was an unfortunate outcome. Reflecting on Hurzeler’s initial tenure as Brighton’s manager, Cantor stated: “When people ask me what’s it like under the new manager, I try and find the right words… he uses the word intensity a lot and there’s no two ways about it.” Cantor continued, describing the team’s performance as “an intense watch, it is at times a little bit chaotic and we see that not only getting forward because they do get more people in the box and create more chances.” He further elaborated, “But, they also seem more chaotic at the back. It’s so difficult, the way that he plays to get it spot on for the whole 90 minutes. They’ve led nine times this season and been equalised against five times – the improvement could be maybe holding onto the lead and making the right decisions.” Cantor concluded his remarks by stating: “I think Hurzeler feels we should be higher than we are, that’s a disappointment to him. They have a top quality squad and there’s been massive investment – but maybe those results haven’t been reflected in the performances.” Separately, former Brighton striker Warren Aspinall offered his perspective on areas where the Seagulls need to improve following their initial 10 league matches, stating: “They’re going to have to do game management a little bit better, when the subs come on, they’re going to have to do a bit better.” Aspinall provided an example from the Wolves game, noting: “If you go back to the Wolves game, 2-1 up and cruising, we break clear and yes we want that third goal but in the 92nd minute. [Mats] Wieffer was not at the pace of the game yet and he’s an experienced player, he needs to run the ball to the corner or wait for the defender – it’s little things like that.” He also referenced an incident involving Brajan Gruda: “[Brajan] Gruda on Saturday comes on and he’s dancing around the ball and he goes inside and slips, you can’t do it all yourself – it’s a team game. Gruda from what I’ve seen so far he wants to do it himself.” Aspinall concluded his assessment of Gruda by stating: “He needs to get to grips, I know he’s only young and played a handful of games but he has to learn quickly – this is a top league and we want to finish sixth if we can. We need to get into Europe.” Post navigation League Cup Final Against Celtic Poised to Shape Rangers’ Season Kenneth Vargas Apologizes to Hearts Teammates and Coach
