Patchy Mix holds a professional record of 20 wins in 21 bouts. The Bellator bantamweight champion has formally requested a release from his contract with the PFL, the organization that owns Bellator, citing frustration over a lack of scheduled fights. Mix, an American fighter aged 31, whose last bout was in May, posted on X last month that the promotion had canceled two of his scheduled fights—one in November and another in January. The PFL acquired Bellator last year and had announced intentions to stage eight Bellator events in 2024; however, only five of these events have occurred to date. In a subsequent post on X, Mix wrote, “My manager told me to hold off but haven’t heard anything from the PFL or [PFL chairman] Donn Davis. If you are not gonna have me fight then please release me from contract.” He further expressed, “This is not what I want but if I’m not important to the company being a multi-time champ then let me go respectfully.” Mix’s situation mirrors that of several other prominent Bellator fighters who have recently voiced their concerns about the PFL’s fight scheduling. For instance, featherweight champion Patricio Pitbull shared on social media that he is “worried about the future of Bellator” in a detailed post, while light-heavyweight title holder Corey Anderson characterized the situation as a “flip-flop.” Additionally, in May, former middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi was released from his PFL contract after he too complained about a lack of fighting opportunities.
