A 25-mile (40km) swimming challenge undertaken by a BBC Devon team has concluded, benefiting Children in Need. This effort is part of a broader initiative where teams from all BBC local radio stations are collectively swimming 1,000 miles (1,609km) to generate funds for the organization, which is dedicated to enhancing the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. The five-member Devon team, comprising Caroline Densley, James Vickery, Charlotte Cory, Lucy Bolt, and Caroline Adams, commenced their swimming endeavor on 4 November. Their final lengths were completed at the Sidwell’s Point Leisure Centre in Exeter around 12:45 GMT. Caroline Densley, a BBC Radio Devon presenter who also hosted the station’s morning program from the poolside, expressed that she “felt a bit emotional” upon finishing the challenge. She remarked, “It’s made me re-find my love for swimming,” adding, “I think it’s the most incredible thing I’ve ever done, it’s just wonderful.” She further conveyed her gratitude, stating, “Thank you to everybody who has donated and all the lovely messages we’ve had.” BBC Devon can be followed on X, Facebook, and Instagram.
