Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has stated that defender Pau Cubarsi is “fine” after the 17-year-old Spaniard received 10 stitches to close a cut on his face. Cubarsi was substituted in the 67th minute of Barcelona’s 5-2 Champions League victory against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday. The incident occurred when he was caught by Uros Spajic’s studs while heading a corner clear. Cubarsi, who made his debut for the club at the age of 16, required medical attention on the pitch before his substitution, having been left with a bloodied face and an open wound. Following the win, Flick commented: “He needed stitches, but he’s fine.” The club later posted a photo of a smiling Cubarsi with the caption: “I’m OK.” Barcelona will evaluate Cubarsi’s condition before their next match.
