British athlete Zoe Atkin secured her first podium finish of the season by claiming halfpipe silver at the Freeski World Cup held in Colorado. The 21-year-old achieved a score of 89.75 on her third and final run, placing her just under a point behind China’s Eileen Gu, who had secured first place with a 90.50 score on her initial run. After the second runs, Cassie Sharpe held a lead over Atkin with a score of 89.00. However, Atkin surpassed the Canadian competitor with a strong performance on her third run at Copper Mountain. “I’m super hyped to put down a solid run and be back on the podium after a tough event in China,” Atkin stated. In other events on Saturday, fellow British competitor Jaz Taylor earned a third-place finish on the second day of the Telemark Sprint World Cup double header in Pinzolo, Italy. Kaja Bjoernstad Konow of Norway took first place, with France’s Argeline Tan Bouquet finishing second. Taylor, who had previously won sprint race gold in the first event on Friday, has now achieved four podium finishes in four races on the Italian slopes. This result also brings the 31-year-old’s total to 13 World Cup podiums since the start of the previous season. Throughout the Freeski World Cup at Copper Mountain, Zoe Atkin demonstrated improvement with each successive run.
