Aston Villa defender Lucy Parker is set to miss action for a “short period of time” following her departure from the field during last weekend’s draw against Manchester United. Parker exited the match in the 68th minute due to discomfort, and it has since been confirmed that she sustained an ankle injury. A statement released by the club indicated: “Having seen a specialist in the last couple of days it has been determined that, while not a serious injury, Parker will be out of action for a few weeks and will be reassessed in due course.” Aston Villa currently occupies the 11th position in the Women’s Super League, having failed to secure a victory in their initial seven matches.
