Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has stated he is “happy” with the team’s performance this season thus far, even as they experience a decline in results. Following an excellent start to the campaign, which saw them lose only one of their initial nine Premier League matches and secure victories in their first three Champions League fixtures, the team has now failed to win in seven consecutive games across all competitions since October 22. This period marks the most challenging run during Emery’s tenure at the club. On Sunday, Aston Villa faces a demanding away fixture against a Chelsea side currently positioned third in the Premier League. “We are focusing on how we can improve,” Emery said. “I am happy [with] how we are doing this season. Our demands increase progressively and we are being very demanding in every position we are facing, but we have to try to keep balance.” He further elaborated, “Now, we are going to face Chelsea. Of course, difficult. Those three points will be very important, how we can set again our position in the table.” Emery concluded, “The most important [thing] is to try to build our team, to feel comfortable and strong and try to correct some mistakes we are doing.”
