Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, has stated the squad’s ambition to “win everything” as they pursue a second piece of silverware during Mikel Arteta’s management. The London club commenced Arteta’s tenure successfully, securing the FA Cup in his inaugural season in 2020. Nevertheless, despite contending for the Premier League championship in the previous two campaigns and rejoining the Champions League last season, they have not acquired further trophies throughout his five years at the helm. This season, the team is competing across four competitions and has an upcoming chance to enhance its European standing in a match against Monaco on Wednesday. Speaking at a pre-match news conference, Odegaard conveyed the team’s collective aspiration: “If you do that [win a trophy] then everyone will remember you because you write history and I think that’s the feeling from everyone in the squad and the team. We want to do something really special.” He further elaborated on their collective goal, stating, “We want to win everything basically – that’s the mindset of everyone. We want to win trophies, we want to win every time we play and we all share that mindset. We want to win and make sure the trophies come to the club.” A promising individual anticipated to contribute to these ambitions in the future is the young midfielder Ethan Nwaneri. The 17-year-old has already netted four goals across his 12 appearances this season, and Odegaard has been leveraging his personal experience to mentor the academy product. The Norway international commented on his efforts to assist Nwaneri, stating, “I’ve been trying to help him in many different ways. For a young player, sometimes it’s just to help him be himself and feel natural.” He continued, “Everyone can see the quality he has and for him it’s just about showing that, enjoying it and keep improving all the time.” Odegaard concluded by praising Nwaneri’s performance: “He is doing amazing. For his age to play the way he plays with such confidence and such eagerness and always show his qualities – I’m really happy for him and proud of him for what he is doing.” Post navigation Adam Peaty Reflects on His Career and Humble Perspective Derby Ends Six-Game Winless Run; Diverse News Briefs for December 10, 2024
