Former Premier League striker Glenn Murray expressed confidence that Manchester United’s performances under Ruben Amorim “will only get better” but suggested the new manager would be addressing the fitness of his players. Amorim commenced his tenure on Sunday with a draw against Ipswich Town, a result that positioned United 12th in the Premier League. On the BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily podcast, Murray stated, “Anyone at Manchester United should be good enough to fall into a different system under any manager.” He added, “I am glad that he lined the team-up in the way he wanted as 3-4-3 is his identity and I am sure it will only get better.” Murray further observed, “One thing I noticed is that he is not happy with their physicality. He wants them to be fitter.” Despite a rapid start, marked by Marcus Rashford’s goal after just 81 seconds, United subsequently reverted to a familiar pattern, appearing vulnerable to Ipswich’s counter-attacks. Former Premier League midfielder Don Hutchison commented, “Amorim will be looking at this group of players and already thinking that some of them will not be here in a few months time.” He continued, “He knows he will need to move a lot of these players on.” Hutchison concluded by saying, “But you can understand and see what he wants to do in the future.”
