Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak has indicated his readiness to participate in Wednesday’s Premier League fixture against league leaders Liverpool. During his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Magpies head coach Eddie Howe confirmed that Isak had not participated in training sessions since sustaining a hip injury against Crystal Palace, an ailment that necessitated his removal from that match. Although Howe did not anticipate the injury to be a prolonged issue, he noted that the forward’s recovery would involve “time and pain management.” However, in an interview with Bein Sports, Isak commented: “It was a knock to my hip and it was too painful to carry on – but it’s developed pretty good so, I feel good and hopefully 100%.” When questioned about his fitness to play against Liverpool at St James’ Park, he responded: “That’s the plan.” This season, Isak has contributed four goals and two assists across 11 Premier League appearances.
