Following Leicester City’s recent defeat, caretaker manager Ben Dawson provided comments to Match of the Day. He stated, “As expected. We knew coming here about Brentford’s home record and the crowd getting behind them.” Dawson noted that his team initially took the lead with a goal. However, he attributed the final score to critical decision-making errors, specifically mentioning, “Not so much the first one, but the second one we are down to 10 men and then the third just before half-time.” He acknowledged Brentford’s strong performance, stating, “They hit hard.” Despite this, Dawson added that Leicester City “showed some good play for some parts of the game.” Regarding the team’s strategy, Dawson explained, “The thinking was to try to get three points. We reassessed everyone and thought that the best way was to go out to get three points.” When asked about communication with the newly appointed manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Dawson confirmed contact, saying, “Only last night, we exchanged a few texts and we’ll catch up tomorrow.” Dawson characterized the afternoon as “A bit of a challenging afternoon.” He also reflected on the solitary nature of his role, noting, “It can be a lonely place stood on that touchline.” Concluding on a hopeful note, he added that “everyone was excited when the announcement was made yesterday so hopefully that positivity continues.”
