Jamal Lowe’s goal against Oxford on Saturday marked his fourth of the current season. According to Jamal Lowe, a significant contributor to Sheffield Wednesday’s impressive away performance is the team’s collective belief across all departments. The forward netted the second goal during the Owls’ 3-1 victory over Oxford on Saturday, a result that extended their streak to three consecutive away wins and five victories in their last six Championship away fixtures. In four out of these five wins, Wednesday initially conceded, a scenario Lowe suggests nearly acts as a catalyst for the team. “That stat is good and bad – it shows we’ve gone behind but it shows we don’t give up, we know we can score goals and our keeper can pull off saves so we have faith in every department,” Lowe stated in an interview with BBC Radio Sheffield. He added, “Ideally we keep a clean sheet and win but we fight back and always keep going, and the away support is also unmatched so it’s a team effort.” Following the weekend’s triumph, the team has ascended to ninth position in the Championship standings, placing them five points adrift of the play-off spots. Furthermore, they have now accumulated more points after trailing than any other club in the league. Lowe commented, “Going behind can knock confidence but I feel it gives us an extra boost sometimes – which it shouldn’t be like – but it’s been getting results recently so long may it continue.” He concluded, “We can comfortably be a top side in this league but it’s about consistency, staying humble and keeping grafting.”
