Crusaders’ manager, Declan Caddell, described Portadown’s 1-0 triumph over his team at Shamrock Park as “lucky,” marking Crusaders’ third consecutive defeat in the league. Steven McCullough secured the sole goal for Portadown, known as the Ports, who are currently performing strongly. Meanwhile, the Crues hit the woodwork on four occasions. Caddell expressed his disappointment that his squad suffered a third successive league loss in a match he believed they ought to have won. Speaking to BBC Sport NI, he stated: “Very disappointing, both teams weren’t at their best, but we created the better opportunities four times we hit the woodwork and if we take those chances, it’s a different game.” Caddell continued, adding: “Then, it’s the story of our season, they have one opportunity and McCullough slots it in and it trickles over the line against the run of play.” He concluded by saying: “It’s the opposite of the last few games where I questioned my players work rate and desire, we saw loads of that today so today is a tough one to take. Portadown are lucky to get away with the win.” Post navigation Hibs Coach David Gray on Season Kickstart, Narrative Shift, and Fan Optimism Kilmarnock’s Past Achievements and the Challenge of Sustaining High Performance
