During a recent installment of the Planet Premier League podcast, former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha evaluated Ange Postecoglou’s commitment to his distinct playing philosophy, even as Tottenham faces increasing pressure. Onuoha elaborated that in the years preceding Ange Postecoglou’s tenure at Tottenham, managers such as Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho were present, but it appeared that Spurs supporters desired a more entertaining style of football. He noted that despite achieving this level of entertainment, external criticism remains prominent and explicit, including remarks like “‘You still won’t win anything'”. This raises the question of whether managers ought to adjust their approach when faced with unfavorable results. Onuoha further questioned, “‘How many managers really have a Plan B?'” He posited that “The more of these plans that you have, the likelihood is the worse that your team is because the best teams have a certain philosophy. They make slight tweaks and they find success.” He attributed success partly to management, partly to players, and partly to pivotal moments created by individuals who influence outcomes weekly in the Premier League.
