Jim Goodwin, the manager of Dundee United, stated that his team “have to believe” they possess the capability to be the inaugural side to hand Celtic a domestic loss this season. On Sunday, United, currently in fifth place, will host the league leaders, who remain undefeated. Celtic, known as The Hoops, has not suffered a defeat against any Scottish opponent this term, and a decade has passed since United last secured a victory over Celtic at Tannadice. Goodwin acknowledged the challenge, stating, “Every team has tried to win against them in the league up to now,” and added, “Nobody has been able to do so but we have to believe that we might be the team to do it.” He further commented on Celtic’s formidable nature, remarking, “We are very aware of how good a team Celtic are, you talk about how tight our squad is but the strength and depth that Celtic have is extraordinary.” Goodwin highlighted the depth of Celtic’s squad, noting, “Brendan Rodgers can change 11 players and go with a new 11 the following game and it is almost like for like in terms of international quality.” He concluded by emphasizing the difficulty of the task ahead: “So we know how big a challenge it is going to be, nobody up to now domestically has been able to beat them but of course there is always a chance.” Despite this, he reiterated his team’s need for conviction: “We have to believe that we can cause an upset but in order to do that a lot of things need to fall into place on the day.” Post navigation Former Players Hamer and O’Hare Return to Coventry Guardiola’s Potential Departure from Manchester City Deemed Understandable
