Vitor Pereira has reached an agreement for an 18-month contract to assume the role of Wolves’ new manager. The Premier League team, currently facing difficulties, is reportedly paying approximately 1m euros to secure the services of the Al-Shabab manager from the Saudi Pro League, bringing him to the Midlands. Pereira, a Portuguese national and former manager of Porto and Olympiakos, was scheduled to travel to England on Tuesday. While the contract has not yet been formally signed, no last-minute complications are anticipated following successful negotiations. The 56-year-old is set to manage his inaugural match against Leicester on Sunday. At present, Wolves occupy the second-to-last position in the league, trailing the 17th-placed Foxes by five points. Wolverhampton Wanderers have experienced 11 defeats in their 16 Premier League matches. The club dismissed its previous manager, Gary O’Neil, on Sunday, following a 2-1 loss to Ipswich on Saturday. The club had explored other potential candidates for the position, such as David Moyes, who previously managed West Ham, Everton, and Manchester United. Pereira commenced his tenure with Al-Shabab in February, guiding the team to an eighth-place finish in the Saudi Pro League last season. The club currently holds the sixth position, having secured seven victories from 13 matches. Pereira’s past achievements include winning two Primeira Liga titles with Porto during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, as well as the Greek Super League with Olympiakos in 2014-15. Wolverhampton Wanderers may potentially be without Matheus Cunha for their upcoming match at King Power Stadium. The forward has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association (FA) following an incident involving a member of Ipswich’s security staff after the league game on Saturday.
