Nottinghamshire wicketkeeper Tom Moores, who made only four County Championship appearances in 2024, has agreed to a new two-year limited-overs contract with the county. The 28-year-old Moores, a T20 Blast winner with Notts in both 2017 and 2020, is now committed to playing exclusively white-ball cricket for the Outlaws during the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Moores, son of Notts coach Peter Moores, has accumulated 2,751 white-ball runs for the Outlaws, with 1,997 of these coming in T20 matches. His 68 dismissals place him just 18 short of Chris Read’s Notts T20 club record. Additionally, he was a member of the Trent Rockets team that secured victory in the Men’s Hundred in 2022. His career also includes playing franchise T20 cricket internationally for teams such as Multan Sultans, Jaffna Stallions, Kandy Warriors, Sylhet Strikers, and Rangpur Riders. Notts director of cricket Mick Newell stated, “This is a great chance for Tom to narrow his focus and really take a leading role in getting us back to where we want to be as a club in limited-overs cricket.” Newell added, “He’s built a lot of white-ball experience around the world and has won multiple trophies in both 20 and 50-over cricket.” Moores participated in only four red-ball matches for Notts early in the season, subsequently relinquishing his wicketkeeping duties, initially to Joe Clarke, then to Dane Schadendorf, and later to Kyle Verreynne, a late-season acquisition who is set to rejoin Trent Bridge in 2025. “I feel like I’ve learned a lot from being here for nearly 10 years,” Moores commented. He further added, “By honing in on my white-ball cricket, I can get the best out of myself and take my game forwards.”
