Manchester United confirmed Ruud van Nistelrooy’s departure, stating he “will always be very welcome” to return to Old Trafford. The 48-year-old former striker had rejoined the club during the summer, serving as an assistant coach under Erik ten Hag. Van Nistelrooy assumed the role of interim head coach after Erik ten Hag’s dismissal on 28 October, which occurred following a defeat by West Ham United. During his four matches at the helm, the Dutch coach guided the team to three victories and one draw. This record included wins in the Carabao Cup and Premier League against Leicester, as well as United’s initial Europa League triumph of the season versus PAOK. The appointment of Ruben Amorim as permanent head coach on Monday had raised uncertainties regarding Van Nistelrooy’s continued role with the Red Devils. A statement released by the club declared: “Ruud is, and always will be, a Manchester United legend. We are grateful for his contribution and the way in which he has approached his role throughout his time with the club. He will always be very welcome at Old Trafford.” Additionally, the club confirmed the departure of backroom staff members Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel.
