Former World, European, and Commonwealth Games 400m hurdles champion Dai Greene, who was born in Carmarthen and played junior football for Swansea City before dedicating himself to athletics, has been appointed as Loughborough University’s head of sprints and hurdles. The 38-year-old Welshman’s responsibilities at the institution, which is well-known for its athletic excellence, will encompass coaching athletes in both 400m and 400m hurdles events. Alex Haydock-Wilson, who secured two bronze medals for Great Britain in the 400m relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is set to be part of Greene’s coaching group. Greene commented: “Drawing on my knowledge and experience from my time at the highest level of the sport I aim to create an environment that supports athletes, allowing them to thrive and fulfil their potential.”
