Brendan Rodgers indicated in his pre-match press conference that team adjustments would be necessary to manage the demanding fixture schedule, which includes both the new Champions League format and domestic competitions. He made six alterations to the starting lineup from the 3-0 win against Motherwell on Sunday, notably replacing right-back Alistair Johnston with Anthony Ralston and selecting Paolo Bernardo over Reo Hatate in midfield. Despite registering 13 shots and an expected goals (xG) figure of 2.24 in the first half, the team was unable to score. At the beginning of the second period, they continued to generate numerous scoring opportunities around the Dundee penalty area, none of which materialized into a goal. It was at this point that Rodgers introduced key players: Johnston, Hatate, and Daizen Maeda, who substituted Ralston, Bernardo, and Luis Palma. This trio immediately influenced the game. While the presence of many impactful players within his squad is a clear advantage for Brendan Rodgers, there remains a concern regarding the ability of other squad members to perform effectively when called upon.
