Following Frank Lampard’s designation as head coach, George Boateng has departed from his position as first-team coach at Coventry City. A statement issued by the club read: “We would all like to thank George for his contribution to the Sky Blues since his return to the club in the summer.”George was a popular figure, adding to his 57-game and seven-goal playing spell at the club during the 1990s.”We all wish George the best of luck for the future.” Lampard is recruiting Joe Edwards, a former manager of Millwall, to serve as his assistant (“number two”). Edwards has previously collaborated with Lampard at Derby, Everton, and Chelsea. Chris Jones will also become part of the coaching staff, having previously been employed alongside Lampard at his three prior clubs. Rhys Carr, who recently held interim leadership and previously served as assistant to Mark Robins, will continue his role on the backroom team as first-team coach.
