Former Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, in an interview with BBC Radio WM, external, shared his observations regarding the team’s commitment ahead of Saturday’s home fixture against Southampton. The upcoming match at Molineux will see the Premier League’s two lowest-ranked clubs face each other. Ikeme stated, “I’ve seen a lot of the games this season and it’s not looked like they’re not playing for the manager or for the shirt. I don’t think any Wolves fan can say that – they might moan about the quality here and there, but I don’t think they can say that.” He elaborated on the challenges faced by players, noting, “They [the players] might have this mentality but it’s hard to keep going when you’re not winning the games. If we don’t get a win on Saturday then it’s really going to put a lot of pressure on the lads.” Ikeme expressed concern for the club’s manager, Gary O’Neil, given the team’s current predicament. He added, “We’re in a really difficult position and I worry for Gary O’Neil. I do want him to get it right and I think there’s still a portion of fans who want him to get it right.” Anticipating the difficulty of the upcoming match, Ikeme warned, “Saturday is going to be a difficult game for us because I think if we don’t start the game well – I’ve been there when we’re in this position – the fans are starting to turn a little bit anyway and it could be a long 90 minutes.” He concluded by emphasizing the critical need for a victory, stating, “Even a scrappy 1-0 might not go down too well, but it might be the most important thing for us just to win.” Post navigation Motherwell’s Paton Describes Injury Lay-off as Career’s ‘Toughest Time’ Coaching Change at Queen’s Park: Joyce Departs
