Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler addressed the media ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture against West Ham, scheduled for 15:00 GMT. Below are the main points from his press conference: Hurzeler provided an update on player availability, stating that Joel Veltman and Matt O’Riley are fit for the upcoming match in London, and Adam Webster is expected to participate in training today. Conversely, Danny Welbeck is currently “not in the best shape” and his condition is being evaluated weekly. James Milner continues his rehabilitation and has no set return date, while Ferdi Kadioglu and Jack Hinshelwood are still unavailable. Regarding Brighton’s reaction to their 3-1 home loss against Crystal Palace on Sunday, Hurzeler stated: “The reaction was disappointment. I think it’s normal, but there was also an honest reflection and analysis of what we have to improve. The basics went wrong but we have also studied things we did well in the second half.” Addressing the expectations of the club’s supporters amidst a challenging period, Hurzeler commented: “I think it is the right thing that the supporters have these expectations because it shows we are ambitious and that is exactly what I want from the club – to create this winning culture and to be ambitious.” Hurzeler remarked that the team’s current four-game winless streak “teaches me a lot,” adding: “If you try to act with courage and say that’s our goal, then it is also part of it to fail at one time and to be criticised at one time. It is part of the business. It is not a nice business – it is a very honest business. You have to deal with it.” The manager expressed satisfaction with Julio Encisco’s demeanor, noting his belief that Encisco has “changed his mindset.” Hurzeler elaborated: “The player who trains the best and deserves to play will get the chance. I was impressed with him in training and against Crystal Palace.”
